Re: Dec. 1st: Rosa Parks, The Mother of the Modern Civil Rights Movement
I had to study civil rights in my graphic design class. We were to design a poster for MLK and his taking a stand on civil rights. First, I had to do a bit of research on the topic. It was a tricky design to do since we weren't allowed to use any pictures. Instead we had to make an illustration using letters to form the picture. Let's just say the raised fist I made from letters didn't end up looking like anything human.
Anyway, one of the students ended up using Rosa Parks instead for her poster. I thought the line she used was clever, but the teacher hated it. It read, "Taking a stand... by sitting down."
