This is a common practice to the area, they believe they'll be closer to God if they put their life at risk...saw a show on National Geographic where one preacher held 8 rattlesnakes as he was dancing the ceremony. I don't know but I think even a religious serpent inside the church is crazy. Last time I checked the Bible; the serpent the sign of the devil.
