The Cracker Barrel is still there and doing good. We like to go out there sometimes for dinner and eat breakfast. lol Uncle Hershels is great. But I like to pick the fried cat fish for my meat since I discovered I really like their coating on the fish there.
Target I heard is actually going to build a larger..Super Target... out further west near the 'I' by the Famous Dave's. Not sure what if anything is going into the old Target building. Our Walmart is also building a new building near Greenbay Road and going to be a Super Walmart. I've heard different things about the old Walmart building. The lastest is that Walmart will also stay there until another store is located to go into the building, then I have heard that they are leaving the building within a year. Who knows on that one.
Not sure if you have seen the new Lowes, Red Robin, Ben and Jerry's, on Greenbay. That is pretty recent.
The Pick and Save on hwy 50 use to be huge but they remodled the whole building and Pick and Save became much smaller and is in only part of the building now. They did build a new Pick and Save east of Kenosha. They tore down the old Brass Factory and put the store in, a bank, and also just built near by a new school. They are closing the Lincoln Eelementary School and the Columbus School and merging the two into the new school building.
There has been a few new cafe's put in downtown, Mo's Cafe, is one of them. They started putting in a Bob Chin's downtown but after several years of trying to finish the work to open I just heard the work has been stopped. Guess there is something about money issues in starting it up.
They just tore up 7th Ave from about 45th Street all the way north and put in all new pavement and a new middle border. It really adds a nice touch through the area there.
Jewel on Greenbay closed and Sentry took over. I hated the store the first time I went in and refused to go back. It was disorganized, over priced, and unfriendly employees. No surprise to me that 7 months later I just read that Sentry is now closing.
Whew...as you can see things never stay the same and Kenosha is forever changing and growing around here.
I usually have a camera with me and if I do when I'm out by Target I'll snap a pic and post it here for you.
Hope you have a great warm 'palm tree' style Christmas with your family and think of all of us here with our snow. lol That is if the snow sticks around. It was in the 40's today and suppose to rain this weekend. lol Wisconsin you just gotta love it.
And I also would like to say how sorry I am on the death of your father. It is difficult to lose a parent as I'm sure you now know. I lost my mom 4 years ago this November and there is not a day that I don't miss her so much. She was a wonderful parent and life is so different without her here with us.
Take Care.
