2 Jefferson Students killed in Crash

All 3 of these kids are friends with my kids. The whole community is saddened over this tragic loss. Prayers go out to all the families.

Two JHS students killed in collision

JEFFERSON — A Chevrolet Malibu skidded into the opposing lane of state Highway 26 Sunday afternoon and collided with an oncoming GMC pickup truck, killing two Jefferson High School students and injuring three other people.

Tyler Kreklow, 17, and Olivia Sosa, 15, both of Jefferson, who were the driver and front-seat passenger of the Malibu respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene in the Town of Aztalan by Deputy Coroner Carol Anderson.

The rear passenger of the car, Josephine Fuller, as well as both the driver, John T. Wentworth, 49 and passenger Vicky Wentworth, 49, of Edgerton and in the pick-up truck were transported to Fort Memorial Hospital.

All three were later transferred to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Capt. Jeff Parker said this morning that John Wentworth was listed in fair condition and remains in the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both Vicky Wentworth and Fuller were reported as being in critical condition at UW-Hospital this morning.

Preliminary investigation reports of the crash indicated that Kreklow was driving the Malibu north on Highway 26 and was in the process of going around the right side of another vehicle that was making a left turn onto Jefferson Road, which runs to the west off Highway 26. While passing, authorities believe Kreklow lost control of the vehicle and slid into the southbound lane into the path of the southbound pickup-truck driven by John Wentworth.

“What is apparent, is that when the Malibu came into the southbound lane it was facing right across from left to right” the captain said. (The full story appears in the Oct. 15 Daily Union)
