Re: Miracle Baby Coon
Eventually they all wander off. Especially once the hormones kick in. Then they might come back wtih their babies and bring them to the feeding stations.
I had one living in my garage for 2 years after release and I didn't even know she was there until my son yelled "There's a huge coon going into the garage" When I saw her I knew right away it was Bandit...and she had babies there. I realized she had been living there all along when I pulled a large box off the top shelf and found she had been using it as a potty box all this time (phew! I knew I was smelling something!)
But she too did end up going into the woods to live.
The ones who are coming back right now are this seasons babies and they come back nightly to the feeding stations. They are "wildling" (is that a word?) up again. Some will still come up to me and want to be held or pet but many are now starting to take off running up trees when they see me or anyone coming....which is good.
By next season they will have forgotten who I am.
