WISCONSIN ENVIRONMENTAL STATS
SUPERFUND SITES TOXIC WASTE  With 40 Superfund National Priority List sites currently, Wisconsin ranks 9th nationally for land contamination. Superfund sites pose threats to drinking water sources, fish health and safety from the shores of Lake Superior to the greater Milwaukee area.
AIR  Wisconsin ranks in the top 20 nationally for both hazardous air pollutants and volatile organic compounds. Air quality is a persistent problem in many of the state’s most heavily populated counties, including Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine and Sheboygan.
WATER  Runoff from farms, cities and industry seeps into Wisconsin’s lakes and rivers, contaminating ecosystems and affecting the perceived safety – and marketability – of fish from Wisconsin waters.
Environmental Toxins & Public Health  Children in nearly 55,000 Wisconsin homes – about 20,000 in Milwaukee County alone – are believed to have a high risk of lead contamination, placing the state 9th nationally for lead contamination risk. Wisconsin ranks in the top 20 percent of all states for children found to have high blood lead levels.

If you talk to the animals they will talk to you, If you do not talk to them you will not know them. And what you do not know you will fear. What one fears, one destroys. ~Chief Dan George. (1899 - 1981)
