I have a jar of GV peanutbutter with the code beginning with 21111...and I also have another brand with a code beginning with 21111.... It's neither GV, or Peter Pan.
Keep an eye peeled for these codes on other brands. Just because the label says, "BRAND NAME" does not mean that it was made by a particular company. Food is produced, and put on the market. Then brokers buy a certain number of food lots, and sell them to whichever label needs that particular productl.
For example, a certain company might can vegetables. They can a certain amount of cases. There is a certain number of cases in a lot. A broker will purchase a certain number of lots, and sell them to another company that puts their label on them. A brand name really means nothing. It has to do with the process used in producing the finished product, in this case canned.
Ever heard of ISO 9000?
I hope your son finds some relief, soon.
