There are also other ways you can opt out of receiving pre-screened offers. The phone number is different depending on the offer and the credit bureau involved, but you can find it somewhere in the junk paper that comes with the offer, usually on the back of the first page in a grey box.
I've had a lot of trouble with those numbers though. They are totally automated and you have to give a lot of information, and they don't repeat your name back correctly. Maybe I mumble sometimes, but I've also got a stage voice. I can enunciate my name quite clearly when necessary; it's bull that they can't remove me because the computer can't understand my spoken spelling.
They have to make the opt out available. They don't have to make it easy. :roll:
