AJE's story
One year when I was unemployed so I was really in the financial hole. I really wanted to still do something unique yet special for my significant other. Well with $20 to my name I went on a shopping spree to all the regional thrift stores. What did I buy… a ton of Valentine’s Stuffed Animals that looked in good condition and even a few which played musical love tunes. I also made a quick stop at a local florist to purchase a single large red rose. That night I had spent the night at my friend’s house and wrote out a very sweet letter declaring just how much he meant to me.
The next morning February 14, I got up at 4:30AM to load up my car with the treasures and grabbed the letter; which was folded into a heart. I drove the minutes over to my b/f home (he had to be to his job at 6:30AM some 30 minutes away) and knowing he never locked his car door I placed all the stuffed animals strategically all over his vehicle except in the drivers seat where I taped my heart to his steering column and the single rose on his seat. I then took off to go home to my folks and go back to sleep.
That evening he came to my home with the biggest smile on his face and it was then I knew he loved my surprise. I would have to say that was my greatest gift to anyone yet. For me it’s always been the thought that counts and not about prestigious gifts, which will empty your wallet. Give me XOXO, a little bit of sweet chocolate and the smell of a single rose and I’ll be in heaven!
