The biggest problem with the city schools that are doing poorly is poverty in the area and a lack of accountability with the kids. Many kids don't even have their own school supplies, so the classes have to pool supplies from the kids that do have their own. If teachers become apathetic, who can blame them? How long could you put up with a class of 30 students that don't care about their grades and really have no reason to listen to you? Their parents were raised in an atmosphere where grades weren't important, so they aren't surprised when their kids don't do well.
I know several teachers that have gone through the UW university system and nearly all their training is focused on teaching the kids that don't do well in city schools. The problem is that despite all that training, you can't teach someone that doesn't care.

2. Wisconsin does not promote the family but instead was the first state to incorporate "No Fault Divorce"

I agree with Crys. I grew up with divorced parents. After the initial trauma of the divorce, it was better than listening to them yell at each other.

3. Milwaukee's shootings and murder rates are continuing to climb yearly

Yeah, I think we need to trim some of the bloat from our government and spend more on law enforcement. I think the goverment is aware of the problem though. You can't fix stuff like this overnight.

4. Property taxes are so high that families are being forced to move to other states, sometimes breaking up extended families and a lifetime of memories and friends
|
Property taxes here are high, I'll give you that, but there are many communities where they are more affordable. The only people I've heard of that had problems with taxes were living in areas where house values skyrocketed over a short amount of time. They sold their homes and moved to a nearby community, and made a bunch of money in the process.

5. Wiccans are allowed to promote their stuff in public school but my kids are not allowed to mention the word God

What stuff are they promoting exactly? Besides, kids are in school to learn about science, history, reading, etc. If you want them to learn about religion, take them to church. I don't think religion should be off limits if the discussion comes up, but I don't think it should be a mandatory part of the cirriculum either. There are so many beliefs that you can't give them all an equal amount of time. I wonder how many of the parents that promote religion in schools would be happy if their kid came home a Buddhist one day.
