Conures are great if y ou want something larger than a parakeet, but not as big as a macaw. My fav bird I ever had was a cherry head conure that I got shortly after he was weaned and was NOT very tame, took awhile to get him to come around. But after that, he was a very social, animated, and lovable little guy. (I am guessing he was male, I had no clue) Conrad Birdie's (Bye Bye Birdie) only vice was he had a bit of an attitude at times especially towards men or boys. He was definitly a ladies man.
We lost Conrad after about 5 years, when my neighbor forgot to close the patio door,,, bye bye birdie. Still miss him and it's been 15 years now. Most people I have talked to said that cherry heads were one of the hardest to tame, but for me he was the easiest to tame and teach to talk ( he learned ALOT he probably shouldn't have though LOLOL.
Great little birds, lots of varieties to choose from, would recommend them to anyone wanting a small, but very interactive bird.
