Big Fling events
The 2006 Appleton Big Fling, a disc golf clinic, competition and fundraiser for the Fox Valley Sibling Support Network, takes place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at Plamann Park, Appleton.
The Fox Valley Sibling Support Network is a nonprofit organization that offers programs for people who have siblings with special needs or long-term illnesses.
The Big Fling lineup:
10 a.m.-noon: Disc golf clinic for beginners and experienced golfers, led by AADGC and other experienced golfers. Some of the topics include safety, etiquette, technique and equipment.
11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Lunch.
1-3:30 p.m.: Disc golf competition. Two courses are available, a 9-hole course for youth, beginners and players with physical limitations, and an 18-hole course for pro and advanced players. Prizes will be awarded in each division.
3:40-4 p.m.: Jumbo Putt events. Everyone attending the Big Fling, golfers and spectators, form a circle 20-30 feet from a golf basket. At the signal, all shoot for the basket. Those who make the basket win a prize.
