The greatest Gift you can Give Your Horse
Although there are many other horse related forums for Wisconsin horse owners, there never seems to be enough. Horse Owners just need the time to be part of all the forums to be able to offer input, not just be a lurker.
It is my feeling that the best training and teaching you can provide to your horse is by educating yourself first.
Absorb all the input you can, let your brain sort it into your needs and wants, then apply this knowledge to your horse. The worst thing we do is try to develop a relationship with our horse without the necessary education about them.
Become wiser, become softer, become stronger. Become the leader, not by force, but by letting them know in a way that speaks the horse's language.
Above all, be safe and know how to work in and among a whole herd of horses at feeding time and have them respect you as the herd leader. It is a great feeling to have your horse(s) stand at arms length around you in a semi-circle with their ears pricked toward you almost asking, "what do you want me to do?"
It is a great feeling to know that they read your body language as much as you read theirs.
The greatest Gift is to know your horse. Your horse depends on you.
