EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST FOR DAY TRIPS OVER 1 DAY

The following is a very general check list which can be applied to trips lasting two or more days. Just a helpful hint on meal planning - prepare each meal, on paper, for the entire trip. This will let you work out a good variety, will eliminate duplication of foods and also ensure that you do not leave that one special ingredient, for that super special meal at home:

CANOE ESSENTIALS
Basic canoe equipment you will
need for a one-day trip

Canoe
Paddles
PFD (life jacket), 1/Person
65 ft. throwline
Maps in waterproof case
Signaling devices
Headlamp or flashlight w/extra
batteries and bulbs
First Aid Kit
Pocket knife
Matches in waterproof container and
firestarter
Food
Drinking water
Canoeing/hiking clothing
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Required licenses, permits and I.D.


CAMPING GEAR:
Tent, tarp or bivy sack
Ground cloth
Gear repair/sewing kit
Sleeping bag in waterproof stuff sack
Sleeping pad/air mattress
Sit pad or sleeping-pad chair kit

Cook set, dishes and utensils
