Lawn Care and the Environment
Home owners desire a green lawn for a variety of reasons. A green lawn serves as a status symbol, but most people probably seek a green lawn because they find it aesthetically pleasing. Because people wish to have a green lawn, they may overuse chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides in an attempt to solve this problem.
However, this often leads to overuse of these products to try to get an even more perfect lawn. Not only is it illegal to use lawn chemicals not in accordance with the label, but it also leads to contamination of the environment. This buildup of chemicals in the environment also has impacts on human health.
Chemicals that aren’t absorbed into the soil will seep further in, reaching the groundwater and eventually reaching rivers. Even chemicals that stay in your lawn temporarily will get washed away by rain.
If we all share ideas to achieve the same outcome, the earth becomes a better place for all.
