While I am currently a cat owner, I was raised with dogs... Rottweilers and German Shepherds, to be exact.
The dog I remember most was our Rottweiler, Champion Srigo's Big Opportunity And How. To us he was "Boah," 150 lbs. of pure marshmallow. Before I was born, my parents showed Boah. As a child, I could ride on his back, pull his ears, wrestle with him and he'd never harm a soul. Boah made appearances at many show-and-tells, delighting 2nd graders half his size. It breaks my heart that Rotts get a bad rap these days.
Czar was our German Shepherd, even more of a sweetheart than Boah. I never saw Czar express any agression. He had ears that stuck out in strange angles. He was a darling.
When we had these dogs, I was under 7 years of age. All I can remember is these dogs loving me and being very protective. I don't think there are "bad breeds," just bad owners who don't properly train their dogs. When I am not a renter, hopefully soon, I hope to have my own big dogs as I did when I was young.
