I'd like you to meet my cats, and I encourage other theBubbler members to introduce their cats on this thread!
My husband and I have three cats, Maverick (The Puma), Finner and Lil' Hank.
Maverick was our first. He's 16 lbs. of solid muscle. Despite his tough appearance, he's our most affectionate cat. He always has to snuggle and lick you, like a dog. We call him "The Puma" because he's like keeping a jungle cat in the house. Maverick is from the
Washington County Humane Society. Maverick was surrendered because he was "destructive" and "didn't listen." Apparently his former owners didn't know what a cat was.
We adopted Finner after seeing his photo on the
Dane County Humane Society website. Finner has a sad history. He was found abandoned in a Madison apartment complex. He was returned to the shelter by several owners because he vomits. There is no physical problem with him (we think it's separation anxiety). Finner was staying with the most wonderful foster parents when we adopted him. We have to clean up puke every now and then, but I can't imagine not having Finner. He's sweet and shy, and I know it has taken a lot for him to open up.
Our newest addition is Lil' Hank, a stray kitten found under my husband's parent's porch. He's often known as "Puma 2.0" because he's just as affectionate as Maverick, and even more destructive! He likes to crawl into the trash can and tear up anything in a plastic bag. He has a purr that can be heard a mile away. Maverick has adopted Lil' Hank as his son, and no doubt he's influencing our new baby in a bad way!
You can see pictures of our cats on our
photos page. Our cats are our children, and I can't imagine not having any of them. When we have our own house, I hope to become a foster parent to care for special needs cats before adoption. I'd love to have a cat rescue if I could support it. I always used to joke that I'd become an eccentric "cat lady" someday, and that's certainly coming true!
