Anyone out there with a revved-up recent computer should try
earth.google.com for really cool (and basic is free) satellite imagery that will take you right down to look at your rooftop! Great way to find rivers and streams in the woods.
Some definitions of 'streams' (technically, "navigable waterways") are bothersome. My Scout troop did some tree planting for a local quarry and the 'navigable waterway' was about six inches wide and two inches deep. It was a dry time, but I don't believe one could've paddled 50 feet in all but flood conditions. Oh well.
