Introducing Disc Golf
When I first heard of Disc Golf I remember saying: “What is that? Who plays it?” and the most important question: “How much does it cost?” Well the ever-expanding popularity of this game begins with the throwing of a disc similar like a Frisbee to an elevated chain mesh basket. Actually this is a wonderful game to play, why because there’s constant challenges toward good physical and mental concentration. It’s also a very sociable game; yes teams do compete but also it’s a game for the whole family or friends regardless of age, gender or ability. Is Frisbee Golf inexpensive to play, yes.
The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws. So much like Golf, the number of times it takes to reach your goal target is counted against you. Each consecutive throw is made from the exact location where your disc landed on the last throw. Score is determined by counting the number of throws made on each hole plus penalty throws and then adding up the total upon completion. The winner is the player who completes the course with the lowest score. Unless you are like me who does the game for recreation and not competitive sport!
The course consists of a series of holes laid out in a way so that when the player completes one hole he/she may proceed to the beginning of the next round until all the holes on the course were played. Preceding each round the player is provided with some form of a teeing area from which to begin another feature similar to Golf.
Disc Golf courses are normally laid out among wooden areas with diverse terrain to proved natural obstacles to the flight of the disc. The courses will normally be 18 holes (Rounds), but there may also be 9, 22, 24 and 27 holed courses, which maybe found in selective locations.
Frisbee Golf is a game which participants expect high standards of etiquette and courtesy. Among the basic considerations are concerns such as spectators and or other fellow players as well as respect of the terrain. The rules were easily designed to promote a fair but fun challenge for all whom participate.
Enjoy the Game!
