Free annual credit reports are now available for Wisconsin residents at
https://www.annualcreditreport.com. The reports are sponsored by Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. After entering basic information on the main website, you are directed to each credit bureau's site to answer more questions.
Today is the first day that the Midwest can order the reports, so I found the credit bureau sites to be rather slow! The Experian site was a breeze and allowed me to view my report online. I ordered my report from Equifax to be sent via mail. I am still waiting on the TransUnion site to process... it's terribly slow and asks a lot more questions than the others.
I also got lost on TransUnion's site; I couldn't find the link back to the main credit report site!
Be careful when you order... there are a lot of "options" to request more detailed reports for a free. The basic reports will show you active and closed credit lines, also credit requests, but will not give a credit "score."
The ordering may be a hassle but it's definitely worth getting your reports for free!
