Especially now we talk.
Hello Fellow Wisconsinites
From Duluth/Superior
I work at a food processing plant that is in one week from now laying off a 100 or so workers. It's a union shop. Especially now we talk a lot of politics but usually from the liberal democratic perspective. I am very conservative and a republican myself. I do see the discussions as a good thing though.
I find being mostly ears and using my mouth a little less enables me to understand better where they are coming from. I don't see their connection between the plant closure and layoff, and it being the fault of George Bush though. That's the accusation I hear all the time. I believe it's more that the company wants to mechanize more of the processing which displaces human labor and I see that it's because of a weak UFCW. But the liberal mind wants to blame Bush.
This entire area is predominately democratic. The economy up here is suffering because of local regulations, restrictions, high property taxes imposed by local city, county, and state governing bodies which are democratic. I wish they could admit their failure and not continue to say it's because of Bush. I've lived up here for almost 10 years and as I see it this area has been losing economic strength since way before Bush ever took office. It sure didn't improve through the Clinton's years.
