I don't like having the time stamp either since then you'll will see how often I edit. I do a lot more than you think after I post something because I make typos.

It doesn't keep a running list of every time you edit. The time only shows the last time you made a edit. So if you did edits 5 times only the last one shows. So really no one knows how many times you hit the edit button to change a word unless they are right there watching the post change over and over.
I will edit something and then go back and do it again several times to get it right in a matter of a few minutes sometimes.
