The only way I can carry a tune would be if I carried a CD to my car or something. LOL
My son has perfect pitch too like Patti. He absolutely hates it when someone sings off key! He won't even watch shows like American Idol and if I try to sing, he says "Mom, please stop...You're hurting my ears!" He won lots of awards during his school years at state contests for singing and playing piano too. I think he inherited it from my grandmother as she also had perfect pitch and could play any instrument. That ability skipped right over me though. When I was in middle school, we had to sing at our 8th grade graduation ceremony and I sounded so horrible that the music teacher told me to "just mouth the words" and pretend I was singing. I like to think that I'm gifted in other areas so I'm fine with it. LOL However, after years of listening to my son sing, I can tell when someone is singing off key.
